A bold choice and a project being constructed with time...
Architecture in store and online !
"Imbernon Publishers and Booksellers are both located in Le Corbusier building, 3rd floor (or 3rd street as it's said here). They are both specialised in architecture, town planning, contemporary design, decorative and fine Arts. The bookshop presents an important selection of new, second-hands and antiquarian books, especially about and by Le Corbusier."
ATYPICAL FUND The settlement of the bookshop in a building being one of the most important icon of 20th century architecture is not fortuitous. It meets a will of specialisation on architecture and City related topics. The bookstore fund is composed of: - New books, mainly related to architecture and town planning of the 20th and 21st centuries. - Second-hands books on modern or 20th century architecture, and some rare ones. - Books on design, fine arts and artistic gardening - DVDs are available on the same topics. - Some children books on house, city related topics..., can provide useful information to young people. - At last, an important selection of works about and by Le Corbusier. MEETINGS AND NOVELTIES Presentations and signings are regularly proposed to the public . We have been planning since 2006 a specific show, titled ‘Quand d'Architecture se livre...', meanwhile the book trade fair ‘Lire en Fête' (archives 2006, 2007, 2008). It highlights the Children's Literature. Organisation and activities are looked after in partnership with associations such as 'Cie des Rêves Urbains', 'Fotokino' etc. Besides, we belong to the associations Libraires du Sud (Southern Booksellers) and Libraires de Marseilles (Booksellers in Marseilles). We use to lead various operations aiming to improve the image of the Book, among which is the Price for Children's Book in Marseilles (Prix du Livre Jeunesse). You will find all informations on these events at the web page ‘Actualités' LE CORBUSIER BUILDING The settlement of a new business -the bookshop- in 2002 in the ‘Winter garden' created the surprise and however heartily approved by most of the various visitors. The housing Unit, or Glorious City of Le Corbusier is a private building, and has been stated historical monument since 1986. After a flourishing period for ‘small businesses' during which hairdresser, butcher and grocer's have made their time, the professional premises of the 3rd and 4th floors in the building, have welcomed in no time a majority of independent workers and architects. Thus, in order to prevent from upsetting the residents, visitors are allowed to come from 9am to 7pm all week long, and are only permitted to visit the 3rd and 4th floors as well as the terrace roof. |
