Koolhaas HouseLife is an exceptional experience of a full immersion in the daily life of one of the masterpieces of contemporary architecture of recent years: The House in Bordeaux, designed in 1998 by Rem Koolhaas / OMA.
Unlike most movies about architecture, this feature focuses less on explaining the building, its structure and its virtuosity than on letting the viewer enter into the invisible bubble of the daily intimacy of an architectural icon.
Like any house, the House in Bordeaux is a place of plurality with all its chaos, its wear and tear, and its changes. The work of Ila Bêka and Louise Lemoîne offers us a portrait of the real and changing vitality of one of those monuments that we believe are immortal. This is realized through the stories and daily chores of Guadalupe Acedo, the home's caretaker and housekeeper, and the other people who look after the building. Following and interacting with Guadalupe, blooms an unusual and unpredictable look at the spaces and structure of the building.
A real experiment that presents a new way of looking at architecture and broadens the field of its representation.

LIVING ARCHITECTURES SERIES
Koolhaas HouseLife is the first film of a series by Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoîne entitled "Living Architectures" which proposes to develop a way of looking at architecture that shifts away from the current trend towards giving an idealised representation of our architectural heritage. The films are trying to demonstrate the vitality, fragility and vulnerability of architecture through the observation of daily life, habits and testimonies of the people who actually live in, use or maintain the studied spaces.
Besides "Koolhaas HouseLife", the film series Living Architectures comprises "Pomerol, Herzog & de Meuron", a film about harvest time in the grape pickers' refectory built in 2002 by Herzog & de Meuron for the famous vineyards of the Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix in Pomerol (France).
"Xmas Meier", this film studies the identity transformation of Tor Tre Teste, a suburb of Rome, thanks to the construction of the Church « Dives in Misericordia », built by Richard Meier in 2003. The film offers a portrait of the area through inhabitants' testimonies and stories during Christmas time.
"Gehry's vertigo", offers to the spectator a rare and vertiginous trip on the top roofs of the Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao. Through the portrait of the climbing team in charge of the glass cleaning, their ascensions, their techniques and their difficulties, this new film observes the complexity and virtuosity of Frank Gehry's architecture.
