Heute ist die Kapelle von Ronchamp das am meisten besuchte Bauwerk von Le Corbusier und ein architektonischer Wallfahrtsort gleich den Hochburgen des Weltkulturerbes. Dieser Führer lädt zunächst, natürlich, zu einem Streifzug an Ort und Stelle ein; darüber hinaus aber auch, sich eng an Le Corbusiers Aussagen und Schriften haltend, zu einer Entdeckungsreise in das kreative Abenteuer der Projektierung.

The pilgrimage church, Notre-Dame Du-Haut in Ronchamp, is considered an icon of modern architecture, and represents one of the most important buildings of Le Corbusier's late work. Situated on a high plateau in the Vosges above Belfort, this building is regarded as a unique work of art in its spatial design and form, fitting perfectly into its environment. The shell-shaped roof, the curving walls, the stone-masonry towers and the facade with its rhythm created by coloured glass openings are essential components of this sculptural construction. The scale and proportions of the Ronchamp Chapel are according to Le Corbusier's "Modulor" which provides its special spatial effect. This text tells the history of the building's construction and its effect, and contains hitherto unpublished plans and photographs.
