Text Bilingual French-English
The book is divided in three chapters and has been published by Imbernon Publishers when the opportunity of an exhibition at Granet Museum in Aix-en-Provence, as part of Cézanne's death centennial commemoration, presented itself.
Essay-structured texts on the work and the man bring the painter's approach out within the first chapter. The second chapter offers selected works, lithography, drawings and paintings. These use to display Marchutz's perseverance in his commitments and choices integrity, through Aix-en-Provence landscapes as well as Venice landscapes. They are ordered chronologically to illustrate the different periods of his carrier. The third chapter is dedicated to the painter himself. It gives the opportunity to better understand the painter's reflection and thinking but also how he set himself intangible rules. His ideas and affinities in Art and Philosophy are exposed in excerpts from interviews and his journal.
